artists made books and artists self published books and zines. in a showcase of around 30 different artists from places local, in the UK and europe, studio press was a pick-up-and-read/look extravaganza! lots of illustration, stories, poetry and prints etc to keep the eyes and mind occupied. you could buy your favourite too! project slogan hopes to follow the success of this show with another studio press next year :)

art students karen law and nik lowitt constructed a booth with a large two way mirror side on the window of the gallery. from the outside it looked like a massive mirror but inside were karen and nik observing, taking pictures and other such voyeuristic documentations. as a kind of commentary on their 'stay' in the booth, they installed an exhibition of text works, film and photography inspired by what they has seen and heard during the two weeks previously. of course all identities were obscured when appropriate.

lynn hynd's works have advanced out of a focused investigation surrounding the relationship between line and form. through screen printing directly onto plaster surfaces, she explores the tension between the printed surface and the inherent object-ness of the works, without them ever becoming exclusively identifiable as objects. concerned with the line being materialised as a cut, as an amputation she sees the new work as torn paper fragments that sit within a larger dialogue between painting and sculpyure, solid and void, two and three dimensions

exquisite corpse

a temporary publishing house was set up in the gallery by print makers kirsty hendry, tessa androutsopoulos, alexander storey-gordon and grant mcallister. everyday from 1pm - late was spent making lofi screen prints, zines and drawings all contributing to a huge wall of pictures. they invited other artists and the public to come and make prints, images or whatever they fancied. after two weeks the publishing house went into liquidation and closed up. that night we enjoyed a look at the installation-like piece and the artists could step back form and have a look at what they had made
